Insert Blocks from Database table

Overview

This utility will insert all the blocks in the table whose handle numbers are missing.

Image to the left is the result example: Door and Window blocks are inserted from Windows and Doors table in 2 database.

You will be ask to specify insertion point and spacing.

How it works

• In your "master" database, create "JTBW_BlockLayer" table of 3 columns:
  • BlockName: Name of block in Database to insert if its handle is set to "" (missing)
  • LayerName: Layer to insert block to. If layer is not available in the drawing then program creates layer with default properties assigned.
  • DWGFile: Drawing file's path that having the block. If block name and file name matches then the drawing itself is considered as a block.
• In your table (For example: Windows or Doors table), create new block record.

  

  Left Handle column empty, while fill other attribute data columns.

• Run AcDbInsert command, ACAD_db will:
  • Program searches database for any records having Handle number empty based on block details defined in the table JTBW_BlockLayer.
  • Insert new block per each record.
  • Checks on what layer block needs to be inserted in the table "JTBW_BlockLayer".
  • Updates corresponding records with Block Handle number to establish link between block and record.
  • The result will be like image in Overview section.
• Run AcDbInsertBySort command. This command is similar to AcDbInsert except it will sort blocks according to attribute data:
  1. Get all block names and its file name from the table "JTBW_BlockLayer".
  2. Gets each blocks attribute DB Connection from table "JTBW_AttSync".
  3. Collects all block references needs to be inserted into drawing from each block name.
  4. Sorts collected block information based on MLC [primary key] and RLC [secondary key].
  5. Inserts block references as per sort order.
  6. Updates handle of each block references into database to establish link between block reference and database record.
  7. Shows a dialog box listing all details of block reference inserted.
